About HONK! Jr

Ugly looks quite a bit different from his darling duckling brothers and sisters. The other animals on the farm are quick to notice and point this out, despite his mother's protective flapping. Feeling rather foul about himself, the little fowl finds himself on an adventure of self-discovery, all the while unknowingly outwitting a very hungry Cat. Along the way, Ugly meets a whole flock of unique characters and finds out being different is not a bad thing to be.

What About Auditions?

Casting the show
• We do not have formal “auditions” to avoid “competition
• The staff will observe the children during rehearsals for the first 2 weeks to get a sense of what they can do
• Please remind your child that just because he/she reads for a part, doesn’t mean they will be selected for that part
• We will contact parents before casting your child in a part to make sure that you and he/she are up to the challenge and that you are willing to spend the extra time working on lines and coming to the extra rehearsals

ALL STUDENTS ARE CAST IN THE SHOW! It does not matter if they are an Artist or Mentor - we invite everyone to be a part of the program.

Timeline

  • Rehearsals begin the week of April 22 - Dr. Andy Morgan or his representative will be there to work with students for 2 days, including a "Mentor Bootcamp" to teach the students how to be good mentors to their artist

  • We will rehearse Monday and Wednesday 6:30-8 until the week of May 19th, then we will add in Saturdays 10:30-Noon

  • The show will be at Thomas Ewing Jr. High School, August 9, 10 and 11, 2024
